The teething stage is one of the hardest stages to go through in mamahood. We lose even more sleep than we already do and our ears are pierced with the screams of a baby we can’t soothe. As a mama, you feel both hopeless and lost when there is nothing you can do to take the pain away.
When our first born was teething, we were kind of clueless. Other than the baby Orajel (it’s a life saver – you can get some of that here) and the occasion popsicle, we gave her the suggested amount of baby Tylenol as often as we could and hoped it would take the edge off. So, trust me when I say, I totally know the feeling and the struggle of a teething baby. It might just be one of the worst experiences in my motherhood journey thus far because of that feeling of hopelessness.

Tips for Soothing a Teething Baby
1. Freeze a wet washcloth
Once it’s cold or somewhat frozen, give it to your baby to chew on. This helped us a lot when we were going through the teething stage with our first born. Anything cold with somewhat numb the area and relieve pain temporarily. This often helps your baby relax, soothe sore gums, and even possibly take a nap. I honestly wouldn’t try Sophie The Giraffe Teether – it didn’t work well for us, our baby just wasn’t interested. That’s not to say this is the same for every baby, but in that case you could easily spend WAY less money and purchase a soft, silicone toy for the same purpose.
2. Nuby Teething Sets
Get some Nuby teething sets to fill and put in the freezer. These are baby popsicles that mold and are shaped for baby’s hands. You can fill with breastmilk, fresh pureed food, or juice. The Nuby popsicles are convenient and will sooth your baby’s sore gums almost instantly. This will last a little longer than the frozen washcloths and will keep your baby entertained, nonetheless.
3. Anjie + Ash Silicone Teething Jewelry
I saved the best for last, mamas! Anjie + Ash is a silicone teething jewelry brand founded by a fellow mama, Andrea, who had a difficult time soothing her teething baby. We all know the feeling, right? Not only that, but when she did find a product to help her baby, it was nothing near stylish. So you know what she did? Started her own teething jewelry line to help other mamas enduring the same struggles! Andrea truly is one of the sweetest women I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I can sense (even through emails) that she is SO passionate about Anjie + Ash and helping other mamas!
Anjie + Ash silicone teething necklaces are “equal parts sophistication and chew appeal.” I love how she words that with such poise – us mamas need that. The jewelry is high quality food-grade silicone, non-toxic (free of BPA, lead, phthalates, PVC, heavy metals, and latex), and is made with a patent-pending magnetic clasp for safety and security.
What am I wearing?
I’m wearing the Antoinette Silicone Teething Necklace in Midnight here. I love how the necklace appears stylish with any outfit and accentuates your wardrobe without feeling like you’re dressed as a total mama. Don’t get me wrong – I love being a mama. But, when I’m traveling out of the house for errands, I’d like to soothe my baby without feeling like I have a whole bunch of extra knick-knacks to carry around. These teething necklaces are not only practical, but look fashionable and allow me to ditch the teething toy. No digging around the over-packed diaper bag to find our teething toy anymore.
I love the combination of wearing the Greenwich Silicone Teething Necklace in Mint Chip and this Saint-Tropez Beaded Bracelet in Midnight. Together, they look super cute and you reap the benefits of providing your baby with more options to soothe their sore gums. The colors that are available for both of these can be easily worn with any outfit.
Quite possibly, one of the best qualities of these necklaces is their breakaway magnetic clasp for added safety. We all know the feeling of a little babe pulling at your jewelry. These clasps are very durable, but if your sweet baby decides he/she is going to give you a tug, if will fall from your neck. A plus for mama and baby!
